Portuguese Interpreter

Perhaps you are a conference organizer, hosting a conference, seminar, congress and meeting and need a Portuguese interpreter to render the target language as quickly as possible, almost in real-time, either in a sound-proof booth and/or via transmitters and receivers to the audience. This is called simultaneous interpreting and when you hire me for your Portuguese interpreting needs, please be aware that I’ll have a partner, as it’s so cognitively demanding that it’s considered a two-person endeavor.

There will be situations in which an event producer needs me to sit next to an audience member and whisper the Portuguese interpretation to a participant. This mode, called whispered interpreting, usually doesn’t require any equipment and is generally used when a minority of the group does not speak the target language, but should not be sustained for long periods of time, as interpreters’ vocal cords are sensitive.

Maybe your interpreting needs call for a Portuguese interpreter to speak after the source-language speaker has finished speaking. I will take notes and render the subject into the target language when the speaker takes a break. Consecutive interpreting is usual in rendering speeches, depositions, recorded statements, court witness testimony, and interviews.

There may be times in which you need a Portuguese interpreter to read aloud the source language document as if it were written in the target language. Sight translation occurs usually, but not exclusively, in judicial and medical work.

Although I’m ready to fly all over the world, you may also consider hiring me for remote interpreting, in which I’ll work from an interpreting hub in Washington, D.C., or from my home office.
